2Phase Technologies Announces Subcontract to Abaris Training of Reno for Training at Military Repair Depots

Dayton, Nevada; October 19, 2006 – 2Phase Technologies Inc. (Dayton, Nevada) announced the award of a subcontract to Abaris Training of Reno, Nevada, for training at U.S. military repair depots. This training will permit the depots to implement 2Phase’s Reconfigurable Tooling Systems (RTS) for depot-level repair of U.S. military rotorcraft and aircraft. These new repair systems are being developed in work begun in 2004 on contract from the U.S. Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) in Fort Eustis, Virginia.

The repair system implementation is part of a $2.0M third- and final-year follow-on contract that will complete development of the repair systems and transfer that technology to the military repair depots. The repair approach makes use of 2Phase Technologies’ patented state-change materials to provide integrated tooling and process systems.

Abaris Training is the industry leader in composite repair training. Abaris’ program for 2Phase will be directed by Greg Mellema, an Abaris Technical Instructor, who holds degrees in Professional Aeronautics, Aviation Safety, and Aviation Management as well as Airframe and Powerplant certificates and an Inspection Authorization. In addition, in February he returned from a year’s assignment in Afghanistan as a Staff Sergeant with the Nevada National Guard. Mellema’s company was assigned to Kandahar Airfield where they maintained the task force’s 38 helicopters. He will use this very current hands-on expertise to assist the military repair depots in understanding and implementing the improved capabilities and very rapid turn-around times possible with the new 2Phase systems.

“We will be providing training not only to the Corpus Christi Army Depot in Texas but also to the U.S. Navy’s NAVAIR Depot in Cherry Point, N.C., and the U.S. Air Force’s Ogden Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base in Utah.” explained Dr. John Crowley, President and CEO of 2Phase. “These three repair depots will also participate in the final development work so that at the end of the program they will have, and know how to use, systems that will allow aging or damaged rotorcraft and aircraft to be repaired and returned to service much faster, with comparable or improved quality, and at less expense than with current technologies.”

2Phase Technologies, Inc. headquartered in Dayton, Nevada, is the leading provider of complete solutions for the low-cost prototype, repair, and short-run manufacture of composite and plastic parts.
